If “Power” proves anything, it’s that there is strength in numbers.
This collaboration is a first between artists from the Filipino Canadian Youth Alliance’s (UKPC/FCYA) Ontario and B.C. chapters with FenaxiZ and Dagamuffin representing Toronto while Kris Blade and Kimmortal hold it down for Vancouver.
It is fitting, then, that the resulting track transcends geographic boundaries – similar to the movements of the global Filipino diaspora.
Driven forward by a haunting piano sample over militant drums, “Power” unites the four MCs as they call for their community to “educate, mobilize, and organize” on the road to genuine equality for Filipino women, youth, and workers.
